1.20 The Get Well Soon Badge
The most notable thing about The Get Well Soon Badge is probably the introduction of popular character Chew Chew to the Hey Duggee cohort. Chew Chew has as much of a character arc as any in Hey Duggee, eventually becoming a Princess but it’s good to see her personality already fully formed in her premier appearance.
Also of note is the unusual opening to this episode. The format is often tinkered with if it serves the story but this is the only time to date that the opening Squirrel doesn’t immediately run off excitedly to get ready for Squirrel Club.

Opening Squirrel
Norrie is sick in bed so she doesn’t head to Squirrel club with the others.
Start
The introduction music ends and the Squirrels realise Norrie is missing.
Set-Up
Duggee explains that Norrie is feeling under the weather. The Squirrels suggest ways that they can make her feel better. Tag suggests a dance and Roly suggests a song. Happy suggests they make her a get well card and the other Squirrels agree. Duggee can help, he has his Get Well Soon Badge.
Story
Duggee gets the craft supplies out and we launch into a craft montage. Tag adds glitter. Happy shreds some paper. Roly finds some feathers. Betty colours inside the lines. With their card finished they head out to Norrie’s house.
On the way:
- They enter a bamboo forest where they find Chew Chew the panda. She has a tummy ache because she is hungry. They Squirrels help her by reaching up to get some bamboo. As they leave they shout “Get well soon”.
- They meet Frog in a puddle. Frog is feeling seasick. Happy jumps in and lifts him up. As they leave they shout “Get well soon”.
- They come across Caterpillar in a woodland. She has a cough which blows Frog back into the puddle, knocks Chew Chew over and blows away Ethel the elephant on her rollerskates. The Squirrels wrap her up in a blanket with a hot water bottle. As they leave they shout “Get well soon”.
They find themselves at Norrie’s house and Norrie’s dad shows them into her bedroom. They give her the card and she feels better already.

Close and Credits
Duggee hands everyone their badges, including Norrie in bed. As the other Squirrels drive off, Duggee stands with Norrie, Norrie’s dad and Caterpillar.
