1.7 The Jam Badge
The writers of Hey Duggee have always been willing to throw in references and jokes for grown-ups. From the Cheese Badge in series three which parodies Stranger Things to this episode, the Jam Badge, right at the very beginning. In the case of this badge, Naughty Monkey becomes computer game villain Donkey Kong, throwing fruit at the Squirrels as they pursue him.
My one disappointment with this badge is that Duggee doesn’t make jam properly. Jam has two key ingredients and he completely omits one of them. I guess this was done because sugar has become a dirty word due to the childhood obesity crisis. It seems a shame though. Jam makers will also spot Duggee’s second mistake, you never stir a bubbling pan of jam.

Jam is a difficult thing to make with children. It is dangerously hot and has way more sugar in it than Duggee’s recipe suggests. I wouldn’t recommend making jam but there are lots of fun recipes you could try that use jam. Here is a recipe for jam tarts from the official Hey Duggee website:
