1.40 The Puppet Show Badge
For me, The Puppet Show Badge is the best episode in series 1 of Hey Duggee. It is the best of everything Hey Duggee. The story is compelling, they have played with the format in a clever way and the live-action puppets are both a wonderful surprise and really well made.

Start
The Squirrels are not at the clubhouse.
Set-Up
The Squirrels arrive back from their walk. They have had an adventure that is difficult to explain so they decide to put on a show. Duggee can help them, he has his Puppet Show Badge.

Story
The Squirrels get crafty. They’ve got:
- Paper
- Sticky Tape
- Cardboard
- Glitter
- Glue
- Paint
- Jelly
They get to work making their puppets while Duggee builds a puppet theatre. The audience (Enid, Frog and the chickens) settles down. The Squirrels are ready to start their show which they have titled “Adventure With Tiger”.
The curtain is pulled back to reveal a live action-adventure. Duggee and the Squirrels are on a walk when they heard a scary noise from behind a bush. Out pops King Tiger. He is collecting fruit for tea and he invites Duggee and the Squirrels back to his palace for a cup. Tiger put all the fruit in a big teapot. Happy has borrowed the teapot to play with his puppet. With the teapot on stage, it is stirred with a silver spoon and served. Then King Tiger put on a dancing show with jelly belly dancers. Then it was time to go but they danced all the way home.
By this point, the audience has swelled to include Enid, Frog, the chickens, the birds, the sheep, the cows, Hedgely, Worm, Ladybird, Spider, a rabbit and King Tiger himself. He has come to thank the Squirrels.
Bridges
- Dancing Duggee.
Close and Credits
King Tiger’s penguin chauffeur arrives with the parents. The jelly belly dancers’ music plays throughout the close. A jelly puppet dances next to the credits.
Style Change
The Puppet Show Badge has the most stand out style change of series 1 of Hey Duggee. There is an argument to say that it is the most stand out style change of in all of Hey Duggee. When the curtain was pulled back to reveal live-action puppets there was an audible gasp in our living room. The puppets have been lovingly and cleverly crafted for the puppet show sequence. A few things to note about the puppets:
- Obviously Betty is a balloon with a face on each side.
- Norrie is made out of cardboard.
- Happy is also 3D.
- Roly is felt.
- King Tiger’s crown is made from sequins and feathers.
Supporting Cast
- King Tiger
