1.18 The Show and Tell Badge
The Show and Tell Badge harks back to the very early episodes where the basic premise is never fully fleshed out. The repetitive counting sequence highlights this. The makers of Hey Duggee presumably thought the same as they pretty much repeated this episode later on with series 2’s The Collecting Badge. That episode has a very similar set-up but with a far greater pay-off.
The items that each of the Squirrels chooses for the Show and Tells Badge reflects their personalities. Betty loves reading, Happy loves water and Tag loves sports. I’m not sure exactly what it says about Roly, other than he is ambitious. Arguably, Norrie finds the most interesting thing although Ladybird maintains that he is mundane. Norrie’s willingness to find beauty tells us a lot about her personality.

Set-Up

- They don’t need much water.
Duggee has his Show and Tell Badge.

Story
The Squirrels run off to find something interesting to show and tell:
- Tag finds a bouncing ball in a bush.
- Betty finds a book about the solar system.
- Roly finds a mountain-sized rock. It’s a bit too big so he finds a slightly smaller one.
- Happy has found a glass of water.
- Norrie finds ladybird.
Ladybird does not think he is interesting but he agrees to come to the clubhouse with Norrie. The Squirrels each show their items. Norrie shows everyone Ladybird’s interesting spots. He has six spots, the same number as the number of interesting things Duggee and the Squirrels have found. Ladybird realises he is quite interesting after all.
