The A Cappella Badge clearly takes a lot of inspiration from Pitch Perfect. It also has an excellent fourth wall smash as the Squirrels ask the narrator to join in.

Episode Summary
Opening Squirrel

Start
Duggee and the Squirrels are sitting under a tree. Happy is playing with a fire engine. Roly is blowing bubbles. Norrie and Tag have made a daisy chain. Betty is reading a book.
Set-Up
Above them four birds start to put on an a cappella performance. The Squirrels love the sound and so do all of the other animals. A crowd arrives for this impromptu performance by Hot Cheep. The performance is ended abruptly by Roly yelling his catchphrase and the birds fly off.
Duggee explains that they are singing a cappella. All of the noise is coming from their mouths. The Squirrels want to learn how to do it themselves and Duggee has his A Cappella Badge.
Story
Duggee makes noises for the Squirrels to copy using their mouths:
- Roly copies the sounds of a drum.
- Tag copies a high hat beat.
- Betty copies the sound of a trumpet.
- Happy copies a ting from the piano.
- Norrie copies a tune on a banjo.
Duggee shows them how to copy any sound. He shakes a cereal box and all the Squirrels copy. Then he drops a bag of flour and they do the same. He slurps a coffee and the Squirrels make a sucking sound. Next, he hiccups and they copy. Then a ting, a clap, a click and a stamp. Finally, they practice with their voices, high and low.
Roly spots a pair of boots and then he spots Enid. He sets the beat with by repeating “boots and cats”. The other Squirrels and then the other animals join in and they launch into an a cappella song. The doorbell rings and a group of animals have gathered, attracted by the sound.
They gather outside for the concert and introduce themselves as The Singing Squirrels. As they begin their song Hot Cheep appear and join in. Together they put on an impressive performance.
