Opening Squirrel
Roly is playing with his Jet Rocket toy.
Start
The Squirrels are playing with their toys. Betty has Professor Fuzzy. Tag is playing with a tiger called George. Norrie’s unicorn is called Nala, and Happy’s crocodile is called Zilla.
Set-Up
Roly doesn’t know the name of his toy, so Betty informs him it is an action hero called Jet Rocket. He is:
- The planet’s only hope – he zoomsthrough an asteroid field, blasting them out of the way.
- The only hero who can saze the day – he runs through a forest, chased by dinosaurs, swings across a cravasse and saves Eugine from a snake.
- The saviour of civilization – he gets into a giant rocket and saves a city from Godzilla.
In tough times you need someone like Jet Rocket. Betty explains that Jet is constantly breaking things, running and telling people to get out of the way. The Squirrels decide they want to be action heroes too. Duggee isn’t too sure. Roly’s older brother gave him the toy, and it isn’t age-appropriate. The Squirrels still want to be action heroes, and luckily Duggee can help. He has his Action Hero Badge.
Story
Duggee explains that you don’t have to be all wham, bam, crash to be a hero. There are other ways to destroy things, rescue your friends or save the city. Norrie suggests dancing, but Jet is not dressed for it, so they head to the dress-up box and find a fun outfit. Jet dances with Godzilla.
Norrie notices that Jet still sounds a bit cross, so they give him a softer voice. Jet saves Eugine from the snake by talking about their feelings and showing compassion.
Betty wants Jet to be good at maths. It’s handy when zooming through space to calculate a clear path through the asteroids.
They imagine what Jet does at the weekend:
- He goes off on his own and thinks about something sad. He expresses his anger by smashing the mountains.
- He drinks blueberry juice by himself.
The Squirrels realise he must be lonely, so they create a friendship group with their toys. They all meet up in Central Bark and laugh. Jet helps Nala with some baking, and they have a good time on a bouncy castle without breaking things. Jet is smiling.
Close and Credits
The Squirrels have earned their Action Hero Badges.
Jet comes to life and dances with Duggee.
