3.01 The Being Quiet Badge
The Being Quiet Badge is the opening episode of series 3 of Hey Duggee. It continues where series 2 left off, with a run of brilliantly ingenious episodes. Another dry subject made entertaining with adventurous storytelling. If you have looked around this website you might notice that scrapbooking is a passion of mine so it goes without saying that Great-Grandmama’s journal is one of my favourite things in the whole of Hey Duggee.

Episode Summary
Opening Squirrel
Roly hiding in a bush.
Start
The Squirrels are about to help Duggee clean out the workshop.
Set-Up
Duggee opens the door to the workshop. It is stuffed so full that everything tries to explode out. Duggee quickly closes the door and decides to clean it out next year. One thing did escape before he slammed the door shut, it’s Great-Grandmama’s journal. They flick through her many adventures as ann explorer until they come to the tale of her expedition to find the Snard. She spots a footprint and tracks it for many miles through a river, a swamp, freezing snow and over mountains. She then finds another clue, a tuft of Snard fur. Eventually, she spots the Snard but before she is able to take its picture she sneezes, scaring the Snard away. Her advice to future Snard hunters is to be quiet. The Squirrels want to go on a Snard hunt but first, they need to learn to be quiet. Fortunately, Duggeee has his Being Quiet Badge.

Story
Duggee shows them how they can be quiet instead of talking. They all practice expressing themselves without talking:
- Norrie is able to show being cold.
- Betty is warm.
- Happy is excited.
- Tag is thinking.
- Roly is being quiet.
They set out on their quest. Roly spots a bird and nearly yells out but stops himself in time. They cross a river, a swamp, freezing snow and climb over mountains. Betty quietly asks a bird if it has seen the Snard and shushes it when it tweets. They continue on their trek until they locate the spot that Great-Grandmama last spotted the Snard. As they settle down to watch for the Snard they start to shush one another until the loud noise of a hungry stomach rings out. Luckily Duggeee has brought a snack. As they share a delicious, homemade pineapple bread. The smell of the bread drifts into a nearby cave attracting the attention of a large creature. Some large globules of dribble drip on Duggee’s head. He looks up to see the Snard. Happy puts down his pineapple bread and the Snard picks it up. The Squirrels stay quiet as mice as the Snard sniffs the bread then noisily eats it.
Bridges
