3.15 The Future Badge
The Future Badge is the next instalment of surreal Hey Duggee episodes, following on from The Opposites Badge. The level of detail here is difficult to describe. Thought has gone into designing every aspect of this episode.

Episode Summary
Opening Squirrel
Happy watering a plant.
Start
Tag and Roly are playing with the blocks. Happy is blowing bubbles in a glass of water. Betty and Norrie are having a tea party.
Set-Up
Duggee is counting all his supplies in case they are needed in the future. Duggee explains the future to the Squirrels. It is something that might happen later. The Squirrels want to know more about the future. They have questions:
- What is the future like?
- Are the chickens still grumpy?
- Is Enid still a cat?
- Will the clubhouse be in space?
Luckily Duggee has his Future Badge. He has many theories on what the future will look like.
Opening Squirrel
Happy watching a dropper water his plant. He steps into a tube and flies off to Squirrel Club. The other Squirrels all have futuristic vehicles. Tag is on a bubble bus, Norrie’s car is invisible, Betty is in a flying saucer and Roly is on a beefed-up bike. The clubhouse is now a dome and Duggee is a robot.
Start
Roly and Tag are playing with the blocks. When Tag touches a button the blocks arrange themselves. Happy is playing with the water cooler which blows a bubble. Betty and Norrie are having a tea party with a robotic teddy bear.
Story
Robot Duggee is buffering and reloading. Once he has rebooted he suggests a game of future ball. The ball floats and they whizz around with jet packs hitting it at each other. There are no rules but it’s fun. Eventually Duggee calls a halt to the game.
Next, they decide to try out future gardening. Roly spots some future birds and chases after them with his jet pack. Duggee brings of seed computer pod and Happy selects the things he would like to grow. The pod produces a multi-coloured seed and rains on it. The seed instantly grows into a caterpillar-like vegetable monster.
Roly is hungry so they check out future food. Duggee gives them each a bean and shows them how if they add a drop of water it changes into a meal.
- Duggee’s bean is a cake.
- Happy’s is a plate of paste.
- Norrie has a lemon pie.
- Tag’s is french toast.
- Betty’s changes into quinoa and avocado terrine.
- Roly has several beans which make a cheesy, sausage, fish trifle.
It’s time for future nap time. Duggee presses a button and beams come down on each of the Squirrels. Nap time is over quickly, it’s very efficient.
The Squirrels are missing the good old days and return to the present.
Close and Credits
The Squirrels have earned their Future Badges.
Duggee presses a button and switches off. The robot teddy bear dances over the credits.
Outfits
Duggee and the Squirrels all have futuristic outfits:
- Robot Duggee has a sleek white look like Eve from Walle.
- Betty wears an iridescent headband and wraparound sunglasses.
- Roly has neon green trousers and a hefty orange belt.
- Norrie is wearing a hoop jacket and dress.
- Happy has a blue space suit and yellow glasses.
- Tag has a red coat and iridescent hat.
