Story

First, they need to find their favourite smells:

  • Norrie likes honey.
  • Tag likes leaves.
  • Happy likes clean washing.
  • Betty likes chalk.
  • Roly likes potatoes.
  • Norrie colects blossom.
  • Betty collects toys.
  • Tag picks apples.
  • Happy collects rainwater in a bowl.
  • Roly digs sand.

Next, they extract the essence of what they collected:

  • Norrie uses chemicals.
  • Tag uses a juiccer.
  • Happy uses a cocktail shaker.
  • Betty uses a motar and pestle.
  • Roly fills his beakers with sand.

Finally, they carefully balance all the ingredients together and present the finished products.

Roly’s advert is based on the advert for Sauvage by Dior with John Depp. Roly is digging in the desert, and his perfume is called Pomme de Terre. It is very potatoey and rugged.

Norrie’s green dress in her advert seems to be based on Kenzo World’s Fragrance advert, which itself is a parody of traditional perfume ads. Norrie dances through the advert, ending with her telling the watcher not to be anything but You. Norrie put honey, green carnations and chestnut shells in it. Duggee describes it as empowering.

Unsurprisingly, water is a common motif in perfume ads. There are quite a few that feature someone in white swimwear jumping into a pool or the sea. Happy’s advert most closely resembles a classic 1980 ad for Channel No. 5, but there is also influence from Joy by Dior and Dolce and Gabbana’s Light Blue. Happy’s perfume is called Aqueous and is very watery.

Tag’s perfume is called Sachet. It’s for the rhino who likes to have fun. There are a couple of fragrances that use the same apple-shaped bottle as Tag. These include Be Delicious by DKNY and Nina Ricci. Both market themselves as “fun” but not in the overly colourful way that Tag does. His perfume has apples in it and is very sharp.

Betty’s perfume is called Everything, and it contains everything. The smell is very complex. Her advert is set in space.

They go outside for some fresh air.

Close and Credits

The Squirrels have earned their Pwerfume Badges. They show their perfumes to their parents.

Duggee has a bath.
