Episode Summary
Opening Squirrel
Roly digging.
Start
The Squirrels are playing find the potato. Happy is looking in the waste paper basket. Norrie is checking to toy box. Tag and Betty open the toy cupboard. Roly looks underEnid.
Set-Up
Duggee is very good at finding things. He sniffs all around the clubhouse until he reaches the dressing-up box. He found it using his sense of smell. The Squirrels want to know about senses. Our senses are what we use to explore the world around us. There is:
- Sight
- Hearing
- Touch
- Taste
- Smell
Dogs have a good sense of smell. Owls can see in complete darkness. Crocodiles can feel vibrations on the water. Elephants can hear rain storms from miles away. Butterflies can taste with their feet.
Duggee can help the Squirrels explore their own senses, he has his Senses Badge.
Story
First Happy finds something to look at. He looks at the water in the goldfish bowl but when he looks closer he also sees the goldfish. He looks even closer and sees the scales of the goldfish look like petals and are sparkly.
Betty puts her arm in a jar of rice to see what it feels like. It feels cold and wavy like water but also dry. She says it’s like her arm is being given lots of little hugs.
Tag takes a sniff of lavender. At first it just smells flowery but on second sniff it smells sweet and smooth like floating around a misty mountain.
Norrie takes a bite of Duggee’s homemade banana bread and declares that it’s ok. A second bite reveals a taste sensation. It tastes of sweet banana, nutty, creamy butty and cinnamon.
At first, Roly doesn’t hear anything but when he really listens he can hear the leaves talking, little bubbles and the flapping of tiny wings.
The Squirrels want to know if their are any more senses. Duggee has a sixth sense which helps keep the Squirrels safe. He holds out a paw and catches Roly as he falls out of a tree.
